Jim Clark Quartet performs at Cedar Street Grand Opening Sat. Sept. 27 1-3pm

Merchant-Window-Sign_700px

I am performing this Saturday, Sept. 27 from 1-3pm at the Cedar Street Grand Opening (Cedar St. at Fairfield Ave. in Norwalk) with my quartet, featuring Chris Coogan on keys, John Mobilio on bass and Jim Royle on drums.

This is a special event for me, as my neighborhood association and our local merchants have been working on this project since 2003 and we now have a brand new streetscape, complete with historic style LED lighting, hanging plants, brick and granite sidewalk crosswalk features and more. Many people to thank, which I will do at the event.

Come and celebrate with us!

Jim Clark & the Norwalk Jazz Connection feat. Tracey Marble Sat. Aug. 16, 7 pm

Dancing-Under-the-Stars-2014_550px

We are back on the Norwalk Green Saturday, August 16 at 7pm, for what is now the third annual “Dancing Under the Stars”.
We will be performing in the brand new gazebo built by the First Taxing District, who is also sponsoring this free concert.
Tracey Marble is our featured vocalist, although our keyboardist Chris Coogan may sneak in a song or two. There will be some other surprises, but of course you will have to attend to find out! (I realize this is not a very subtle “teaser”, but hopefully still effective).
In addition to Tracey and Chris, we have Rex Denton on trumpet, John Mobilio on bass, Jim Royle on drums, and me on saxes. I hope you can join us!

Admission $25, members $22, students $10

If you love jazz saxophone, you do not want to miss this concert at Westport Arts Center, Sunday, January 26, 3:00pm – 5:00pm. Admission is $25, for members it is $22.
This is a tribute to some of the greatest jazz saxophonists of our time, during an era when jazz was still arguably a part of our mainstream popular culture.
Sidney Bechet, Coleman Hawkins, Johnny Hodges, Ben Webster, Lester Young, Don Byas, Charlie Parker, Dexter Gordon, Paul Desmond, Sonny Stitt, Gene Ammons, Hank Mobley, John Coltrane, Stan Getz, Gerry Mulligan, Cannonball Adderley, Sonny Rollins. Each one of these saxophone giants have made a unique contribution to the world of jazz.
The musicians:
Chris Coogan – piano  You will surely enjoy hearing Chris in this mainstream jazz setting. His inventive, lush, spontaneous style really shines in this context.
John Mobilio – bass  John brings a lyricism to his bass playing – fresh and full of energy – a delight to behold.
Jim Royle – drums  A jazz drummer must “swing”, and Jim does exactly that! His sensitivity and ability to create highly contrasting moments add dimension and drama to the group.
Jim Clark – saxophones  Paying tribute to these sax masters requires a level of deftness, attention to detail, and virtuosity, which Jim brings, along with a contagious passion for jazz.
Update:Tickets to the concert are $25 for adults, $10 for students with a valid I.D., and are available in advance at (203) 222-7070 and www.westportartscenter.org, or at the door 30 minutes prior to the start of the performance. A limited number of $15 tickets will be available for presale at the Westport Center for Senior Activities, 21 Imperial Avenue, Westport.
